Morro Do Sao Paulo

Morro de Sao Paulo (St. Paul's Hill) is one of the most desired tropical destinations in the world, and ranks very high in the Top Brazil's Beaches, because it still has clean sand, palm trees, crystal and warm water containing colorful fish living in deserted beaches.

Just for you to imagine, the Morro is a kind of volcano, with the beaches on the bottom, and the houses (or "pousadas", as the local says) in the top. So you can live at the top of hill with a fantastic landscape, and go down just to go to the beach. To make things quieter, cars are prohibited in Morro do Sao Paulo. Only four wheel drives and tractors are used to access the more remote spots, and there are no streets, just alleys.

Porto Galinhas beach Brazil

Porto de Galinhas (Port of Chickens Beach) is in our selection the second best beach in Brazil. This spectacular beach changed from a fisherman village to a very popular destination for domestic travelers, that are hypnotized by its beauty and happy about the medium level of infrastructure that the beach has developed.

The history of the beach name is very interesting. In the 19th century, Brazilian government prohibited the slave commerce, which was very common in Recife until then. So, pirates had to create a solution to continue bringing slaves to Brazil avoiding the law, and then they started delivering slaves to other beaches more deserted, like for example Suape and Ipojuca. When the "black ships" (named that was given to the ships that commerce slaves) arrives to the port, to avoid suspicious the code message was "there are new chickens in the beach", where chickens were obviously the slaves; hence, the beach get the name of Port of Chickens Beach.

Jericoacora beach Brazil

Twenty years ago this beach was a simple fishing village with no electricity. Nowadays, the place has grown on infrastructure but keeps all the peace and tranquility that you will expect from a place like this. The main reason for this is that for accessing to this beach you will have to use a 4 wheel vehicle to pass dirty roads. And even once you arrive in Jericoacoara beach you will find that most of the streets in the village are covered by sand, so to move yourself in the beach you will have to walk or drive a buggy.

The meaning of the word Jericoacoara is Hole of Turtles, and came from the fact that lots of turtles comes to this beach to dig holes to lay their eggs. So you can expect to see a lot of turtles in Jericoacoara beach.

But what is really incredible about Jericocoara beach is the sunset. In fact, one of the most popular activities is to go to the Sunset Dune, in the west part of the beach, and watch the sun in confrontation with the dune. At night, is also impressive to watch the sky as it is one of the most astonishing view of a clean limpid sky you could ever had.

Also, Ipanema is located in an expensive quarter of Rio de Janeiro, reason for being considered to be the beach more "chic" of the "wonderful city". Ipanema divides his approximately 2 kilometers long, in different sectors like the familiar, the one for lonely girls, the homosexuals part, the sports one, etc.

Fernando De Noronha (Brazil)

Fernando de Noronha is a group of 21 volcanic islands 340 miles from Recife, Pernambuco, which was declared National Marine Park since 1988, in order to protect land and marine vegetation as well as land animals and marine life. In fact is difficult to catalogue Fernando de Noronha as a beach, because is a group of islands with many beaches, but we at Brazil Beaches decided to do it because will be unfair to make a ranking of the best beaches in Brazil and not include the most beautiful place in the whole country.
The most important island in Fernando de Noronha, who has the same name as the group of islands, has 7.1 square miles and the total population rise to 2,100 inhabitants. This beach is located in the southern end of the coast of Rio Grande do Norte, and is just 90 KM from Natal and has 10 km of beaches where you can swim, take a romantic walk, contemplate nature surrounded by golden sands, natural pools of warm waters, coconut palms and spectacular cliffs. The Copacabana beach is probably the most famous beach in Brazil, and why not, one of the most famous beaches in the world. But what does that this beach so famous? The first explanation is that Copacabana is one of the beaches in Rio de Janeiro, the wonderful city, where resides Christ, one of the seven modern marvels and a symbol of Brazil. In addition to that, Copacabana is a 4 kilometers long wide beach framed by the hills of Rio de Janeiro and where millions of "cariocas" (the inhabitants of Rio) meet to enjoy what the Brazilians more like: beach, the sun, beer and nice women in bikinis.

It is certainly one of the most crowded beaches of Brazil, and for that reason it has the necessary infrastructure to attend so many clients. Restaurants, pubs, street vendors, infinity of courts of Beach Volley, and an incomparable whirlpool, turns Copacabana in the New York of the beaches, where everything happens, where the people socialize, coexist and enjoy the beauty of his waters. Immersed in Samba rhythm, Copacabana presents itself as the ideal beach to meet and to contact the Brazilians. Of course, when the sun falls down or when is very strong, there can be covered all the tourist attractions that Rio de Janeiro offers: Redeeming Christ, the Botanical garden, the mythical stadium MaracanĂ¡ and much more.

Canua Quebrada Beach (Brazil)

Canua Quebrada is an old and small village installed on cliffs that was discovered and popularized by the hippies in the sixties. This beach has transparent water surrounded by enormous multicolored dunes. From the top of these dunes, you could see what the locals call "the magic sunset" or, at night of full moon, the sea becomes a silver mirror where you can see a dancing moon moving across the sea.
The nature of this beach is fragile, and for that reason a special attention must be given to the dunes and cliffs and any construction in the beach is allowed only after a detailed study and considering that destruction of the vegetation is prohibited. This beach is in a Protected Area that was created in 1998 to protect the area and keep untouched all natural attractions as well as local flora and fauna.

Brackley beach (P.E.I)

Brackely Beach, located in Prince Edward Island National Park, offers long stretches of pristine sandy beaches and majestic dunes of the sort that enthusiasts of the Anne of Green Gables miniseries are sure to recognize. You can also view the lake from the 983-metre Marten Mountain Viewpoint, within the provincial park.

The town of Slave Lake itself is a hub for recreation and activity when you've had enough of the tranquil peace of the provincial park. While you're in the area, enjoy the Riverboat Daze, the Lesser Slave Lake Song Bird Festival and annual fishing Tournaments in the area and along the lake as well.

Sauble Beach Ontario, Canada

Located along the shore of Lake Huron west of Owen Sound, Ontario, Sauble Beach was voted the best freshwater beach in Canada by Reader's Digest readers this year. There's a reason for that too – 11 km of sandy beach. Creating by sandbar deposits, the water is shallow and warm which makes it a treat for young and old alike.

The town of Sauble Beach is friendly, and the beach's reputation means there are enough visitors to keep the people-watching intriguing.
