Cape, May New Jersey

Victorian Escape: Driving around New Jersey, you might spot souvenir license plates reading, "Mile 0." This is a reference to historic Cape May, the oldest seashore resort in the country and the last stop going south on the Garden State Parkway.

The Jersey shore may not carry the charm and feel of its glory days in the 18th and 19th centuries, but plenty of evidence of the old-time lifestyle is found in the Victorian houses stretching for many blocks here. After sunning and splashing the afternoon away, a walking tour of these cotton candy-colored houses is the perfect way to call it a day.
